The Residents Weekend is organised by the Bristol & Bath Cultural Destinations Project.

It is part of a national initiative developed by the Arts Council in partnership with VisitEngland, the national tourist board.

The programme aims to increase the reach of those experiencing arts and culture, the sustainability of cultural organisations in local destinations, and to encourage the public and private sector to work together to support the growth of the local visitor economy.

The Bristol & Bath Cultural Destinations Project has been created to bring together the neighbouring two cities and their cultural and tourism sectors to present one coordinated and coherent cultural offer to the visitor.

B&BCD objectives

  • Create and support partnerships across Bristol and Bath to develop a coordinated approach to cultural tourism
  • Reposition culture as a prominent part of the visitor economy and economic growth plans
  • Bring economic benefits to both cultural organisations and tourism businesses in Bristol and Bath
  • Promote Bristol & Bath as complementary destinations
